Core Programs

STEAM Train offers a variety of programs that cater to all ages.

Adventures In Learning

AGE RANGE: 3 - 12 years old 


A week-long camp that introduces youth ages pre-school to 6th grade to STEM careers. Held in conjunction with Adventures in Learning, students are exposed to hands-on scientific experiments, computer technology, engineering disciplines, multi-media, and gain mastery of mathematics as a skill that is fundamental to STEM.


Mobile Application Development (MAD) Programming Camp

AGE RANGE: 13 - 19 years old  

A week-long programming camp that trains participants
13 years and older on the fundamentals of programming and the basics of developing applications for mobile devices. Students develop a functioning app for different mobile platforms. The coding camp is held at Middlesex
Community College. 



AGE RANGE: 13-19

Connect-In-Tech is a core program that aims to teach teenagers computer fundamentals and intentionally Connect them with the field of Information Technology (IT) via hands-on training and exposure to IT professionals. Students have an opportunity to learn about the personal computer architecture, to explore the hardware components, to assemble a fully functional computer, and to install the Windows operating system. They also engage with IT professionals and gain career exposure. 

Fast Trak

Fast Track Academy


A workforce development program that is designed to offer underserved and unskilled individuals, especially those who are single parents with dependent children opportunities to develop skills for the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) workplace. The program will offer training in workplace skills and an apprenticeship.  


Partner Programs

STEAM Train will collaborate with partners to extend services that move people to increased knowledge
and sustainable income.


STEAM Machine

Age Range: 4th & 5th grade students

STEAM Machine is an after-school program offered at Wilbert Snow Elementary School to provide exposure to the disciplines of STEAM (Science • Technology • Engineering • Digital Arts • Math) so students can develop critical thinking skills and discover the wonders of science, technology, engineering, digital arts, and mathematics.

Previous Partner Programs


Age Range: 13 - 18 years old

STEAM Bound, a 7-week program is a collaboration between STEAM Train & UPWARD BOUND MATH SCIENCE(UMBS) of Wesleyan University. The goal to enrich the existing offering to the UBMS participants by providing specific exposure to the disciplines of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, digital Arts, and Math).


Age Range: 8th grade students

Math DEPOT is an after school program that offered by STEAM Train to 8th grade students of the Meriden Public Schools. The program is designed to help students struggling in math get better prepared by Doing Extra Preparation Over Time during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

GearUp 4 Tech

Age Range: 9th grade students

The GEAR Up Technology Camp will give students an understanding of PC technology and offer them a chance to refurbish laptop computers. After learning about the hardware, they learn about the operating systems and how to install them.

Students then take the home the Windows PC laptop that they refurbish at camp.


Auxiliary Programs

STEAM Train will also develop additional workplace readiness modules to meet the anticipated need of moving participants to the workplace.

Technology Fundamentals

Hands on training on productivity software that are critical for today’s working professional such as:

  • Outlook

  • Word

  • Excel

  • PowerPoint

  • Access

Researching and Writing

Life Skills Training

This is intended to enhance the participants’ longevity in the work environment and will seek to cover topics such as:

  • Time Management

  • Phone Etiquette

  • Workplace Professionalism

  • Dress Code

  • Communication Skills

  • Financial Management
